Rob Pel
Rob Pel has over 40 years of experience in the safety sector, 26 of which in higher education. He has done pioneering work in the field of social safety within higher education. At the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam he developed and implemented the first 'expert team social safety & concerning behaviour' in Dutch higher education.
Inspired by scientific insights, he introduced, among other things, the role of social safety director, a proactive position aimed at supporting, advising and guiding staff and students with complex problems. In this role, he gained extensive experience in working proactively on complex social safety issues, in collaboration with a broad internal and external network.
For Rob, dealing with casuistry is not only about a multidisciplinary, independent assessment of casuistry, but also about working with those involved to find sustainable solutions. He now applies the proactive and preventive approach he introduced at VU University in his work for educational institutions but also to organisations in other sectors.
Rob plays a key role in developing and implementing ‘social safety teams’ that DANTES specialises in. He also provides incident support and advises organisations on how to take preventive action. His years of experience are of great value when the outcome of a psychological risk or threat analysis needs to be translated into concrete, feasible security interventions and measures.
